Game Info

 

​​Gemini is a 2D side-scrolling, action-adventure platformer, set in a fantasy-themed world, where elements reside within gifted ones. Players play as protagonists, Zeth and Azuri, blessed with the power of Ice and Fire. Cursed and bounded together by the evil ancient one. It is up to them now to manipulate their abilities to traverse through the harsh environments, combat malicious creatures lurking within and to ultimately put an end to the ancient ones' reign & undo their curse!

Level Design

 

  • The level was paper designed through Excel. Game metrics were set using the grids from Excel, it was convenient to use the grids as units while allowing me to quickly modify and balance the game mechanics and level design of the game. After finalizing the paper design, this is then being translated into the editor for the final level render.
     

  • Every gameplay levels were integrated and crafted to challenge players while ensuring mechanics work well with the levels.

  • Cinematic scenes are also integrated as pieces of animation sets to help reinforce the game and story flow.

 

  • Designed game mechanics which features an on-the-fly switching, traversal and combat abilities.
     

  • Designed interesting and unique boss patterns which allows players to challenge their mastery and creativity towards defeating the bosses.
     

  • Organizes multiple play test sessions to collect and use information to balance mastery and difficulty on bosses and stages. 
     

  • Was in-charge of the game design document which helps facilitate designs and ideas throughout the team as well as new members who joined at a later part of our project.
     

  • Also manage to craft a story and implement game dialogues to help reinforce the game progression and flow.

 

  • Main art assets creator. Produced the game's characters art and animations. Also co-produced environment art assets with a separate artist for other levels.
