Game Info

 

Preternatural is a 3rd person explorative horror experience game which combines puzzle elements where players explore around rooms of a seemingly abandoned mansion and slowly uncover bits of mysteries of its origin.

Narrative / Game Design

 

  • Designed the story and narration for the overall game flow and experience.
     

  • Narration in the game is done through collecting fragments of monologues, voice recordings, pictures & cinematic moments that slowly reveals the story to the player.

  • While the game has a linear storyline, I co-designed with the design lead a multiple route system similar to a procedural narrative method where every player will encounter a slightly altered and different experience. This enabled us to craft and modify tension, scary and resting moments we want the player to experience at specific periods no matter where the player is exploring at the point of time.

Level Design

 

  • Was also in charge of coming up with an entire floor plan for the game and it was paper-designed using draw.io diagrams.
     

  • This level setup design in-game was finalized after multiple iterations to achieve the desireable sense of scale, space, and environment.
     

  • Co-setup with designers to integrate level into Unity together with the appropriate props and trigger event features.
